Heacock Welding is a third generation, family owned company that was started by Ed Heacock as a blacksmith and welding shop in 1939. The original location was just a few blocks from where it is now. Ed's son Bob worked with him in the shop and learned to weld, while all generations kept a hand in ranching and horsemanship. Bruce Heacock, a longtime member of Flintridge Riding Club, extreme skiier, long distance roadbiker, metal sculpter and Bob's son is the current owner of the company.
The great aging Jimmy Williams gave Bruce his friendship and training, along with his students Susie Hutchison, Anne Kursinski and Hap Hansen. Under their tutelage, Bruce progressed to be an accomplished rider and amateur competitor in dressage(including the help of Hilda Gurney),3-Day Eventing and Hunter / Jumpers. Many championships at Ram Tap, Hunter classes at Indio, and bringing along young horses followed. AND his horses needed a trailer to get to shows. He could not find one that suited him. Bruce started retrofitting trailers to his specs and realized he needed to re-design and improve the materials on horse trailers, period, so they would tow better, be more comfortable for the horses, be safer and last longer. Thus the business expanded into the on site design and manufacture of innovative horse and cargo trailers. As Heacock Welding evolved in the era of travel trailers and the sales and installation of hitches and towing equipment, it was a natural progression. Bruce designed and built trailers for Jimmy Williams and other local trainers and riders, using their feedback to refine designs and use lighter, more durable materials, for commercial and amateur horse hauling. Today, Heacock Welding has the track record in products, service, experience, artistry, design and materials that few can match. We take pride in a product with our name on it. In addition to being a third generation, family owned business, all of our current employees have been with us for many years and are extremely knowledgeable about and also take pride in the work they do, and service provided.
